Here’s a heads up, if you haven’t yet marked your calendar: Mother’s Day is now about two weeks away. We got a head start on our celebrations last weekend at our Park Slope shop, where we hosted a book signing with Samantha Hahn, the artist and illustrator behind a stunning new release called A Mother Is a Story. The book comprises a stunning collection of hand-lettered quotes and ethereal illustrations to celebrate the joys of motherhood.
We chatted with Samantha while sipping sparkling wine and nibbling on cupcakes and cookies from BCakeNY. (According to our customers’ rave reviews, they might just have been the best chocolate cookies, ever.) We also brightened up the space with some jaw-dropping bouquets from Stem & Bloom. (The flowers were so beautiful, they barely looked real!)
Our first fifty customers to buy a book, each of which was hand-signed on the spot by Samantha, got a special VIP giftbag, including giveaways from Chronicle Books, Galison, Sycamore Street Press, Weldon Owen, and yours truly.
Many thanks to Stylish & Hip Kids Photography for capturing the festivities in stunning photographs, which you can enjoy below. And if you missed out on attending, you’re in luck: we’re still selling the books, including a few remaining signed copies, at all four of our shops. Best of all, each one comes with a custom print by Samantha — available in limited quantities, while supplies last.
