Before Thanksgiving, I had the honor of being featured on the TODAY Show to help promote Small Business Saturday. It was quite a surreal experience to be on the Plaza and in the spotlight — if only for a few minutes. The producers did a fantastic job building out a tiny replica of our Pink Olive store front. And, I had a few minutes to share my mission, as well as a few of my favorite gift-giving items for the season. It was such a fun and magical experience! And, I realize in hindsight that those few minutes on the TODAY Show really encapsulate an underlying theme in my professional journey — to make things happen!
When I began my journey as a small business owner, my goals were not to make it on national television, but rather to simply serve the needs of my customer base — and have fun while doing it! While nearly a decade later, I had the chance to share my mission with a wider audience on TV, my goals to “make it” as a small business owner in New York City haven’t changed. It takes passion, unique ability and faith to make things happen no matter where you are on your journey. Every day, you must wake up and re-commit yourself to your mission. That’s when you make your dreams happen. It’s hard work, a little luck and, a lot of support from a wonderful customer base.
Thanks so much for your kind words, encouragement and loyalty today and over the years!
Cheers to making it happen!
