About Grace Kang

Pink Olive is the brainchild of owner and retail expert, Grace Kang. As the chief buyer for Pink Olive’s three brick and mortar boutiques and website, Grace is on a constant search for an eclectic mix of whimsical gifts for happiness and home. When she is not curating the shop, or interacting with Pink Olive customers, she teaches budding fashion designers how to start and grow a successful product business.

Grace’s success is the culmination of over 10 years as a retail buyer and consultant in the fashion industry. After graduating from Cornell University, Grace quickly moved up the corporate ladder and became a successful buyer at Bloomingdale’s where she was awarded numerous awards including "Buyer of the Year." Her accomplishments continued on to Saks.com and Barney's New York which allowed her to excel and think outside the box in both the business and creative sense of the word.

With success in hand, it was time for her to launch PinkOlive.com, an online emporium with a peculiar name inspired by her niece’s favorite things—the color pink and olives. When you walk into Pink Olive you can not help but smile and feel inspired to write someone a thoughtful card, cook a delicious meal for your loved one with a new cookbook, or welcome a new baby into the world with a whimsical gift. "When I became an auntie, I felt overwhelmed and uninspired by going into a mass childrens store. I wanted to walk into a place where I felt inspired to give and find something unique and creative for my niece... and maybe find something for myself. Pink Olive is the first retail boutique concept to cater specifically to the stylish aunties of the world." Grace opened her first brick and mortar store in East Village, Manhattan in May 2007 followed by her second location in Park Slope, Brooklyn in March 2008, and the latest location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in April 2014. Aside from running her two boutiques and website, Grace Kang consults with fashion designers, small business owners and startups entering the retail world.
